The
embellishment mainly involved in replacing doors, and tiles on the temple’s
roof, built images of animals and patterns on the roof, and repairing its altar
curtain and garden.
The
temple is dedicated to Huyền Thiên Trấn Vũ, who helped King An Dương Vương
build the Cổ Loa citadel. It was built in the Lý Dynasty in 1160. In 1474 when
the imperial citadel was expanded, King Lê Thánh Tông relocated the temple to
the current location.
The
temple houses Trấn Vũ God’s bronze statue, cast in 1677, 3.72 m high and some 4
tons in weight.
