Int’l tourism festival to celebrate grand anniversary of Hà Nội

VGP - The International Tourism Festival 2010 will take place from October 2-5 and the National Tourism Year 2010 will be launched at the Bảo Sơn Paradise resort to celebrate the 1,000th founding anniversary of Thăng Long-Hà Nội, according to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The festival’s focus is domestic and foreign tourism exhibition. Among 315 standard booths, 50 are national booths for countries in 5 continents, 100 booths for tourism businesses in Hà Nội, 115 booths for Culture, Sports and Tourism departments and tourism enterprises in other 62 cities and provinces nationwide, and 50 booths for sponsors and tourism service providers.

The 4-day festival will feature many art performances, folk games, and street activities, including Then singing of the Thái ethnic people, water puppet shows, ceremonial song singing, Nghệ Tĩnh folk song performances, Chinese chess, and cooking competitions.

The festival will also reproduce daily activities of Hanoians in the late 19^th and early 20^th century, including royal doctoral exams and calligraphy performances. Artisans in the city will show their skills through different stages of handicraft production.
