Genie Gióng’s statue erection completed

VGP – The statue of Genie Gióng, a legendary hero in Việt Nam, was successfully installed atop the Đá Chồng (alia Sóc) Mountain in Phù Linh Commune, Sóc Sơn District, Hà Nội, on August 1. This is a key work to celebrate the 1,000th founding anniversary of Thăng Long-Hà Nội.

The pure bronze statue,
whose construction started in July 2004, has a weight of over 85 tons and
stands 11.08 high.
It depicts the legendary
Genie Gióng holding bamboos as his weapon and riding a horse upward the sky.
A square and a
ceremonial ground, some 1,000 m2, roads and related items are being completed.
A grand inauguration
ceremony will be held in September, one month a head of the 1,000th
founding anniversary.
